living local along the Lakeshore
5 Reasons NOT To Move Along The Lakeshore
1. The sunsets are offensive
2. You'll start to feel like you're in a hallmark movie
How embarrassing, right?! Waking up in a charming little town with shopping corridors that look like they came straight out of the last romance novel you read is just too good to be true. Spending your weekends in places like Saugatuck, Holland, and Pentwater is a recipe for wasting time tasting delicious artisanal jams.
3. you'll annoy people because you won't be able to stop talking about having a "real" lake
Small inland lake life? You will simply shrug that off as if it’s nothing compared to the 22,000 square mile freshwater paradise that is now your backyard. Plus, it has shipwrecks — but do you really have to bring that up when someone asks about how you’re doing that week?
4. Local pride is just too much
If you move to a beach town along Lake Michigan, you’ll start irrationally defending Michigan cherries, Dutch culture, and the superior local coffee scene.
5. You won't leave
Little do you know, you’re getting yourself into a trap of Midwest Nice and wanting a firepit in your backyard. The lake communities and the laid back lifestyle will pull you in and you’ll be addicted. Plus you’ll start to tell your friends to join you and they too will fall into the trap – are you sure you want to do this?
I haven’t convinced you that moving along the lakeshore might be a bust, yet? Well, I can’t stop you. Go ahead and move there. But don’t come crying to me when you start to caption all of your social media posts with “lake life” and sip coffee in your locally-made mug on your porch every morning. You might as well just give us a call and we can start finding the home and community that is right for you in the Lakeshore area.
