Heritage Hill Has Our Heart
Heritage Hill how do we love thee?
Oh, let me count the ways!
I love thee to depth, breadth, and height.
Okay… seriously though. Heritage Hill is truly spectacular AND our feature for this week!
As you may have guessed from the name, it’s located at the top of the hill, just east of Downtown, and is one of the largest historic districts in the entire US!
It is mostly residential with an an array of large scale Victorians; complete with butler pantries, former aide quarters, leaded glass windows, and painted wooden siding. You’ll also find several in-fill mid-century modern homes (where former Victorians and Craftsman were demo’d in the 40s-60s) AND is home to Frank Lloyd Wright’s absolutely stunning “Meyer May House” – which is open to the public for tours when we aren’t in a pandemic. #2020
Take a stroll on a Fall day and fall in love with this area of our City.
It is an explosion of color on both the historic homes (which are required to maintain historic colors palettes) and variety of trees.
If you are planning for an adventure, schedule time after your stroll at Heritage Restaurant, where GRCC culinary students and their professors create an upscale dining experience (by reservation only). Side note, I’ve been. It’s amazing.
