Winter along the Lakeshore | 2025

Though the lakeshore seems to be a summer destination – and don’t get us wrong, it’s one of the best! – there is also a lot to do in the winter months! Let’s chat about the best ways to spend the winter months in the communities that line the lakeshore of Lake Michigan!

1. Muskegon Luge Adventure Park

You may have seen this one coming, and if you didn’t, hear us out! The Muskegon Luge Adventure Park might just be the greatest hidden gem along Lake Michigan in the winter! Here are a few of the activities you can enjoy there:

2. Go see a hockey game at trinity health arena

The Muskegon Lumberjacks are the professional hockey team of Muskegon, and they play at Trinity Health Arena during their season. The games are rowdy and fun and perfect for a family night out or a date night!

3. Attend the pentwater winterfest! (2nd and 3rd weekend in feb)

From the “Polar Dip” to an ice fishing tournament to the “Snowman Scram 5K” to ice skating and more, the Pentwater Winterfest is FILLED with fun! Plus it is a great way to get involved in a beautiful community during the cold and slow winter season. Head out to Pentwater in the 2nd and 3rd weekends in February for an adventure you’ll love!

4. go skiing at mulligans hollow

Lighted paths in a city-owned park with tow ropes and eight downhill runs make for a great winter day. Mulligans Hollow is family-friendly and affordable with daily passes ranging from $8-20.

5. Enjoy winter activities at pigeon creek park

Did you know Pigeon Creek Park offers both cross-country and skate skiing lessons? They also have a lot of other great opportunities in the winter like ski and snowshoe rental, a sledding hill, and trails to enjoy!

6. Go Fat biking in Ludington

Check out the snowy bicycle trails at Cartier Park and Ludington School Forest this winter. If you need to rent a bike you can visit Spindrift Cyclesports or Trailhead Bike Shop!

7. Find a spot to go ice fishing

Ice fishing along the lakeshore is wildly popular in the winter months. Grab your ice shacks and get ready to catch anything from Bluegills to Perch to Walleye to Pike and more! Arcades and indoor games 👾: North Grove Brewers in Montague (pinball), Grand Fun in Grand Haven, and The Lost City in Holland will bring you all the fun on a cold day!

Escape Rooms 🗝️: The Colby Escape Room in Whitehall, Grand Haven Room Escape, and Survival Mode Escape Games in St. Joseph are all great spots!
